Mice and how to control them

Rodent control services often receive many follow-up calls, but rushing the initial premises inspection is inadvisable. A thorough inspection lays the groundwork for understanding the entirety of the rodent problem and the work required to resolve it.
During rodent infestation inspections, pest management professionals (PMPs) identify the rodent species, the severity of the infestation, and high rodent activity areas. Armed with this critical information, PMPs can efficiently deploy targeted baiting strategies, avoiding repeated service calls. Meticulous inspections followed by proper bait and trap placements can significantly reduce callbacks.
Identifying the rodent species is crucial, as rats and mice have distinct characteristics necessitating different control products and techniques. Underestimating population size is a common mistake – inspectors assess gnaw marks, droppings, and burrows to gauge the infestation's extent, informing ideal bait quantities and tools.
During inspections, PMPs examine high rodent activity zones, pinpointing food, water, heat sources, and nesting areas. They locate rodent pathways like building perimeters, pipes, and wires. Identifying concentrated rodent presence is key to successful control.
Post-inspection, professionals map baiting strategies and select appropriate baits and traps for an integrated pest management approach. We have a range of control blocks from PCT and Bell, as well as a complete Bait Station Kit.
